The Super Spanish Subjunctive Challenge

Finally Understand and Use the Spanish Subjunctive – in Just 4 Weeks

Because the subjunctive isn’t about memorising endless rules. It’s about understanding the situations where Spanish speakers naturally use it.

In this 4-week challenge, you’ll finally make sense of the subjunctive — so phrases like:

  • Ojalá fuera rico
  • Es posible que venga
  • Es bueno que hagas deporte

… suddenly feel logical instead of mysterious. Instead of wondering “why is that hagas?”… you’ll immediately recognise what’s going on and why.

What if the Spanish subjunctive suddenly
made sense when you hear:

– Spanish friends wishing you well.

– Native speakers expressing hopes, doubts, and reactions

– Real conversations full of que tengas, quiero que, and ojalá

– Films, podcasts and street Spanish where the subjunctive appears constantly.

If real-subjunctive-understanding sounds like the leap you’ve been waiting for, you’re in the right place.

Because that’s exactly what this challenge is designed to deliver.

Your Subjunctive Breakthrough Starts Here

Over 4 weeks, you’ll get:

  • Clear, focused video lessons explaining the subjunctive step-by-step
  • Ben’s Big Subjunctive Secret that suddenly makes subjunctive situations easy to recognise
  • Full explanations of how to form the key subjunctive tenses, regular and irregular
  • Clear guidance on the most important real-world use cases and rules
  • Short practice exercises so the ideas really sink in
  • A structured journey that turns confusion into clarity

Your Guides: Ben & Marina

Ben and Marina

Hola! We’re Ben and Marina, world leaders in Real-Spanish teaching. We started the world’s first ever Spanish-teaching podcast in 2005 with over 40 million downloads since then.

We specialise in the real Spanish you’ll never find in a textbook or “big-name app” so you feel totally confident, impress the locals and have amazing, real life experiences with your Spanish.

To date over 25,000 learners have taken our courses.

The Problem This 4-Week Challenge Solves

If you’ve studied Spanish for a while, you’ve probably run into the same frustration. You understand a lot of Spanish. You know vocab. You know verb tenses. You can follow written Spanish fairly comfortably.

But when the subjunctive appears, things suddenly feel uncertain.

You see phrases like:

  • quiero que vengas
  • espero que tengas tiempo
  • ojalá hubiera ido

…and something inside your head hesitates. You may recognise the structure, but you’re not always sure why it’s being used.

And when you try to use it yourself, you might think: “Should that be tienes… or tengas?”

So many learners end up avoiding the subjunctive altogether, just to stay safe. And if you try to learn it from traditional grammar explanations? You’re often hit with long lists of rules that feel disconnected and hard to remember. You may understand them in the moment But later, in real conversation, the clarity disappears again.

It’s frustrating.

And here’s the key thing to understand:

It’s not your fault!

The subjunctive is usually taught in a way that focuses on rules instead of the underlying logic.

This Challenge Fixes That

In the Super Spanish Subjunctive Challenge, we approach the subjunctive very differently. Instead of starting with long rule lists… we start with a powerful insight we call:

Ben’s Big Subjunctive Secret

This simple idea changes how you see the subjunctive. Instead of trying to remember dozens of rules… You start recognising the situations where the subjunctive naturally appears. Suddenly, when you hear phrases like:

  • Dudo que venga
  • Siento que no quieras venir
  • Me alegro que te guste

You immediately think: “Ah — that’s a doubt.” Or “That’s an emotional reaction.”

And once you see the patterns we teach you, the subjunctive stops feeling random. It begins to feel predictable and logical.

The Secret: Understanding the Logic Behind the Subjunctive

When you understand the situations, moods and language hooks that trigger the subjunctive, everything suddenly becomes clearer.

You begin recognising it whenever Spanish speakers expresses things like:

Wishes

Hopes

Emotions

Reactions

Uncertainty

Hypothetical Situations

Instead of asking: “Why did they say tengas there?” you start thinking: “Of course – that’s expressing a wish”…

That shift alone makes the subjunctive dramatically easier to understand. And once the logic of this and the other key subjunctive situations we teach you is clear… the grammar becomes much easier to learn and remember.

What You’ll Achieve in 4 Weeks

By the end of this challenge, you will:

  • Finally understand when and why Spanish speakers use the subjunctive
  • Recognise and use common subjunctive triggers almost instantly
  • Know how to form the present and past subjunctive tenses, regular and irregular
  • Feel comfortable understanding phrases like quiero que, espero que, ojalá
  • Start using the subjunctive naturally in your own Spanish
  • Stop feeling uncertain every time you encounter it

In short… The Spanish Subjunctive will begin to make complete sense.

Frequently Asked Questions

What level is this challenge for?

Intermediate and advanced learners who already know basic Spanish grammar but want to finally
understand and use the subjunctive in depth.

I’ve tried to learn the subjunctive before and it never stuck. Will this really
help?

Many learners struggle because the subjunctive is usually taught as a list of rules. In this Challenge
we focus first on understanding the situations, emotions and moods that trigger it, which makes the
whole system so much easier to grasp.

Will this be very grammar-heavy?

The goal isn’t to overwhelm you with theory. The goal is to help you understand the logic behind
the subjunctive and the most common everyday uses so it becomes easier (and enjoyable!) to recognise and use.

I don’t have much time, will this require hours every week?

Not at all. The challenge is structured with short, focused lessons released over the four weeks, designed to be easy to absorb and apply.

There are around 15 videos in total, ranging from 2 to 15 minutes long, plus short exercises to help everything sink in. This is very manageable, very effective, and very easy to fit into everyday life.

How long will the videos and exercises be available to me after I join the course?

At least two years, so you have all the time in the world if you prefer to start a few weeks from now.

When will you be doing this Challenge again?

We have no date fixed for the next edition of this challenge, it’ll probably be 6 to 9 months away, so don’t miss out now! Don’t wait that long to easily improve such an important part of your Spanish at this level.

Do I have to start right now and follow the exact 4-week schedule?

Not at all, if you need to, you can do each module whenever it suits you. Ideally you’ll be able to follow the 4 Week schedule fairly closely, to see maximum progress, but if you need longer that’s fine. But make sure you join the Challenge now while this enrolment is open, we don’t know when we’ll be offering it again.

I’m surrounded by Latin/South American Spanish. Will this still help?

Absolutely. The subjunctive works the same way across the whole Spanish-speaking world.

Get the confidence and clarity you’ve been missing on the Spanish Subjunctive

Fully understanding the subjunctive is absolutely possible. And once you do, Spanish suddenly becomes much clearer and more natural.
