The Super Spanish Subjunctive Challenge
Because the subjunctive isn’t about memorising endless rules. It’s about understanding the situations where Spanish speakers naturally use it.
In this 4-week challenge, you’ll finally make sense of the subjunctive — so phrases like:
… suddenly feel logical instead of mysterious. Instead of wondering “why is that hagas?”… you’ll immediately recognise what’s going on and why.
– Spanish friends wishing you well.
– Native speakers expressing hopes, doubts, and reactions
– Real conversations full of que tengas, quiero que, and ojalá
– Films, podcasts and street Spanish where the subjunctive appears constantly.
If real-subjunctive-understanding sounds like the leap you’ve been waiting for, you’re in the right place.
Because that’s exactly what this challenge is designed to deliver.
Over 4 weeks, you’ll get:
This isn’t endless boring grammar study.
This is finally understanding one of the most important parts of Spanish, in a structured, accessible and enjoyable way.
“My confidence in my ability to make myself understood and to express myself has risen sharply.” – Lisa

Hola! We’re Ben and Marina, world leaders in Real-Spanish teaching. We started the world’s first ever Spanish-teaching podcast in 2005 with over 40 million downloads since then.
We specialise in the real Spanish you’ll never find in a textbook or “big-name app” so you feel totally confident, impress the locals and have amazing, real life experiences with your Spanish.
To date over 25,000 learners have taken our courses.
If you’ve studied Spanish for a while, you’ve probably run into the same frustration. You understand a lot of Spanish. You know vocab. You know verb tenses. You can follow written Spanish fairly comfortably.
But when the subjunctive appears, things suddenly feel uncertain.
You see phrases like:
…and something inside your head hesitates. You may recognise the structure, but you’re not always sure why it’s being used.
And when you try to use it yourself, you might think: “Should that be tienes… or tengas?”
So many learners end up avoiding the subjunctive altogether, just to stay safe. And if you try to learn it from traditional grammar explanations? You’re often hit with long lists of rules that feel disconnected and hard to remember. You may understand them in the moment But later, in real conversation, the clarity disappears again.
It’s frustrating.
And here’s the key thing to understand:
It’s not your fault!
The subjunctive is usually taught in a way that focuses on rules instead of the underlying logic.
In the Super Spanish Subjunctive Challenge, we approach the subjunctive very differently. Instead of starting with long rule lists… we start with a powerful insight we call:
Ben’s Big Subjunctive Secret
This simple idea changes how you see the subjunctive. Instead of trying to remember dozens of rules… You start recognising the situations where the subjunctive naturally appears. Suddenly, when you hear phrases like:
You immediately think: “Ah — that’s a doubt.” Or “That’s an emotional reaction.”
And once you see the patterns we teach you, the subjunctive stops feeling random. It begins to feel predictable and logical.
When you understand the situations, moods and language hooks that trigger the subjunctive, everything suddenly becomes clearer.
You begin recognising it whenever Spanish speakers expresses things like:
Wishes
Hopes
Emotions
Reactions
Uncertainty
Hypothetical Situations
Instead of asking: “Why did they say tengas there?” you start thinking: “Of course – that’s expressing a wish”…
That shift alone makes the subjunctive dramatically easier to understand. And once the logic of this and the other key subjunctive situations we teach you is clear… the grammar becomes much easier to learn and remember.
By the end of this challenge, you will:
In short… The Spanish Subjunctive will begin to make complete sense.
This challenge is designed specifically for intermediate and advanced Spanish learners.
People who already understand a lot of Spanish… but still feel unsure when the subjunctive appears.
It’s ideal for you if:
If you’ve ever thought, I understand Spanish pretty well… but the subjunctive still throws me.
Then this challenge was created for you.
“I really started to learn useful and relatable vocabulary and grammar that made me able to connect with people and really make friends and immerse myself into the Spanish culture.” – Loni
