Today we take you out for another delicious Spanish learning lunch, this time in El Escorial, for a very smart menú del día experience in one of our favourite restaurants! Nos casamos aquí en el ayuntamiento – We got married here in the town hall

De primero yo voy a tomar acelgas con patata – For the first course I’m having chard with potato
Se cuece primero y luego se rehoga… con aceite y ajo – First you boil it, then you sauté/gently fry it with oil and garlic
El gazpacho lleva… tomate, pepino, pimiento, cebolla y ajo – The gazpacho is made with tomato, cucumber, pepper, onion and garlic
Todo esto se aliña con sal, aceite y vinagre – All of this is dressed with salt, oil and vinegar
También se puede añadir un poquito de pan remojado para darle un poquito de espesor o textura – You can also add soaked bread to add a bit of texture or thickness
De segundo yo voy a tomar filete de atún con mayonesa de soja – For the second course I’m going to have filet of tuna with soya mayonnaise
Aunque parece carne, es pescado – Although it looks like meat, it’s fish
Huevos fritos con morcilla – Fried eggs with black pudding
La morcilla está hecha con sangre y arroz – Morcilla is made with blood and rice
