Una pregunta: qué es la diferencia entre #1 y #2? La clave #1 es que el reto tengo que ser muy específico. No solo “Voy a aprender español,” pero algo muy concreto. Podrias darnos un ejemplo? Me parece que el #2 — pensar en un evento o un numero, como “Voy a estudiar una hora por día durante 30 días” – es un ejemplo de lo concreto. Comprendo que lo importante de #1 es que se pueden medir mis progresos. (Espero que mi comentario no es demasiado meticuloso – es porque mi profesión es redactora de libros de no ficción y suelo analizar todo.)

very useful but you should try to eliminate errors since by having someone else check it, the content effect would be the same but you would be able to offer a really top class product. Errors definitely have the potential to spoil stuff like this.

Creo que tu consejo es muy práctico. Es más probable de tener éxito con un reto si es describido especificamente con números o eventos, y si pensamos al reto todos los días. Por ejemplo, no es útil decir voy a perder libras. Tengo que decir, por ejemplo, voy a perder cinco libras en tres meses por medio de no tomando bebidas alcohólicas y no comiendo dulces. Tambien por esto reto sería útil de añadir pasos hacia el reto.
Trabajabamos para la oficina de supervision de libertad condicional en el estado de New York. Mi jefe solía darme el encargo de desarollar una medida para la calidad de supervision exprimado en números. Nunca podría hacerlo. Podría contar los números de visitas entre un supervisor y un ex encarcelado, pero no podría medir la calidad de una visita.
Me gustan mucho tus podcasts; me ayudan mucho. Cómo puedo encontrar Notas en Español en Facebook?
Uso Wordreference, pero me gusta más el diccionário Ultralingua (una programma) — no es muy caro. Tiene tarjetos de vocabulario tambien.

I am not confident enough to write this in Spanish but welcome opportunities to hear the spoken word since I reckon I have a poor “ear” which holds me back a lot in Spain. Hola Ben. Gracias por los consejos. Tienes razón encuanto a tener las metas que puedes medir. Sé que quiero mejorar mi español sobre todo hablar con mejor fluidez. Estaba con mi amiga panameña y compartí con ella mi deseo. Hablamos siempre en inglés pues le dije que mi meta este año es mejorar mi fluidez en español. A leer este podcast, me doy cuenta de que eso no era bastante concreto. Más vale decir que iba a hablar en español cada vez que visito a mi amiga. Es algo más específico que mi amiga y yo podemos hacer, es decir, esforzarnos a hablar en español.

Thanks for your tips for completing goals in 2009. Yo tengo muchos.
Sin embargo, one of my goals has always been to expose my two children ages three and six to the language (Spanish) as I learn. I’m begin lazy and writing in English, now. I understand and speak, but I’m not very literate (writing) in Spanish. That’s another goal.
So, I would like to know if you (I know you and Marina are super busy with baby!) or another reader/student could compile a list of common Spanish phrases parents use with their children.
Por ejemplo, “pick up your toys!” “don’t break that!” (common one with boys), or “Do you have to use the potty?”
thanks for any help on this one. My kids really do pick up quite a bit just from the little Spanglish I use throughout the day. But I’d like to know more,

Thanks so much for Notes in Spanish! I’ve been listening to a podcast a day over the Christmas holidays and it’s completely reignited my enthusiasm for Spanish and the language learning process. I love the relaxed style and the ‘real life’ content and conversations – there’s a touch of Richard and Judy about it, (but in a good way!) It also works brilliantly having a native speaker on both sides, because you get both the benefits of a listening to authentic Spanish and also the insights of an English speaker who has learned Spanish as a foreign language. I think I’ve learned more in these past two weeks than in the last ten of my classes. Next time I shall write en espanol. Muchas muchas gracias.

Your podcasts help me so much! I’ve been learning by talking and listening to spanish-speaking people through my friends and their families, but they always talk too fast or use vocabulary that I don’t know, ect. Your podcasts help out so much more than books, since I learn something from every podcast (most books put in more of the stuff I already know which bores me to death), and I love your spanish accent (and I think your british accent in the beginner podcasts is really cool too!).

Question for Josie Bland or whoever! She says she listens to the podcasts in the car – how does she download them – if I go to the download option it doesn’t give me the choice of saving to MP3 format etc so I can only listen by the computer. Sorry to be si estupida.

I sure get a lot of motivation out your podcasts. They are all interesting, but I’m finding the advanced ones quite challenging. You guys are really good at what you do – only wish that somehow you could make some interactive tapes. On a personal note for Ben. The transcript made a big difference. Listening and reading along i was able to get the gist of what you said. I will listen to it again at least 2 more times. Two people above said they plan to write in spanish ( in here all the time) by the end of the year, i plan to do the same. Keep up the great work.
I started learning spanish last July, but just before i discovered you one day last October in iTunes i felt i was moving very slow. But since i started with your course i have improved big time. My spanish friends are very very very impressed, they have noticed this change.

Estoy escribiendo mi carta en español sin libro ni dictionnario, no se si estoy haciendo muchas faltas pero no esta grava para mi porque se debe osar (ose to ) escribir y hablar si queremos aprender. Tu audio es muy muy bueno y bravo para el transcript Ben y Marina. Soy professora de Ingles y he estado aprendio espanol desde hace ocho meses y no es posible de saber todo en seguida. Pienso muchas veces a tu sandwich mixta y si es solamente por mis errores que puedo aprender mas y mejorar mi espanol.

Siempre me encanta escucharles en los pocasts de spanishpod advanced. Pero quiero comentar algo: vivía en la Argentina, y en un podcast hablaban del “vos” argentino. Quiero coregir que el “vos” NO es algo entre el “tú” y “usted”, sino es menos formal aún que el “tú”. Pero casi nunca se usa el “tú”, menos en la región de los Andes con la gente que, bueno, hablan más el español de Chile. Y con la generación mía, ya no se usa tanto ni el “tú” ni el “usted,” sino solamente el “vos” si se conoce aún un poquito.

I just red your “Conseguir Cualquier Reto en el 2009″ haven’t heard the podcast yet, but I find it quite a challenge to read and know that there is an error and to think about where it might be and try to find the right answer. That is very interesting and forces one to recall all grammar rules you know, but never put into practice, so far.
