Wow, I am a new user on this site, (only a couple of weeks) but I have found notesinspanish.com to be extremely helpful and fun. I studied Spanish in college, and was able to learn to read and write in Spanish, but I have struggled with listening comprehension and going from the textbook to the “real” world. Yo vivo en Bloomington, Illinois en Los Estados Unidos. Illinois es en el centro de el pais. Y, Bloomington es en el centro de Illinois casi dos horas al sur y un poco al oeste de Chicago. Bloomington tiene bastante menos inhabitantes que Chicago. Pero, cuando era joven, vivía en un pueblo muy pequeño. Por lo tanto, Bloomington es un ciudad grande a mi. Bloomington tiene dos universidades. Uno es muy grande (Universidad del Estado de Illinois) y el otro es muy pequeno (Illinois Weslyan). Y el mas importante: tambien !Aqui, no hay playa! Vaya, Vaya! Cuando hay las chifras en español con decimales se escriben con una coma no un punto, ¿verdad`? ¿Cömo se pronuncia el coma? cuando diciendola. Debia uno decir por ejemplo ¿quinientos treinta y uno, “coma” setenta y cinco? o ¿quinientos treinta y uno “punto” setenta y cinco? Gracias por la respuesta.

Mi esposa y yo Vivimos en una ciudad se llama canberra. Es la capital de mi pais australia. canberra es muy bonito y verde, con muchos arboles. Hay solo trescientos y viente mill personas aqui. canberra es mucho menos grande que sydney y melbourne. canberra no hay una playa como madrid. En verano canberra hace mucho sol, pero en invierno esta muy frio.

In Oregon U.S.A. we have many influences from south of the border and yet I enjoy hearing about Spain. Can you explain about the lisping Thhhhh sound? This is not taught in my senior center Spanish class. Also you use “vale o bale ” which I don’t hear south of the border. What is that? Thanks, Jiff

Some people say the ‘thhh’ thing is due to a lisp that a Spanish king had long ago, and so all his subjects copied it to make him feel better! Not sure I believe that though! Vale means ‘OK’.

Vivo en San luis Obispo, California y esta ciudad es entre Los Angeles y San Fransisco por la costa. Ben te gustaria todos las playas cerca de mi casa. Las playas son muy grande y muy hermosas. La temperatura del agua es un poco frio y cuando se nada un wetsuit es necesario. Ademas de las playas tambien muchas montanas para montar en bici or caminar. Tambien hay 2 universidades asi que muchos estudiantes viven aqui y a veces las noches pueden estar mucho ruidosa.
