Disafourtunamente, no he viajado fuera de los Estados Unidos!! Pero, en julio tengo planes de ir a Cartagena, Colombia por una semana para visitar a mis amigas colombianas, y entonces a Viña del Mar, Chile por dos meses para vivir con la familia de mi amiga

Pienso que Chile tiene que ser un paí­s muy intresante, con mucha cultura, pero aún no sé….

Hi Ben and Marina,

Thanks for the great podcast. I have a question about “no me lo creo”. Is the verb reflexive, as in “creerse”? How is it different than “creer”. If I take it literally, doesn’t it translate to “No, I don’t believe it myself”? Would it be acceptable to simply say “no lo creo”?

Ben & Marina, I am a Spanish language beginner, self-teaching myself using GCSE course work. Your beginners & intermediate podcasts are superb. Not only do I get to listen to slow-paced Spanish conversation (which really helps if you are a beginner), but I also get real spanish spoken on the streets of Spain. Qué estupendo!

@adam : Yes, you are right, I would literally translate “No me lo creo” as “I don’t believe it myself”. You can also use “No lo creo” but the meaning changes slightly.

- “No me lo creo” you use it when you are really sure that something is not true or to express a big surprise about something that is real.

- “No lo creo” you use it when you think that something might not be true but you are not sure.

@ John: As Ben has confirmed, we make sure that all the expressions that we choose are 100% real. Still is possible that sometimes a few expressions are used more in some regions than others, but if your final objective is to be able to understand Spanish wherever you go, then the most that you learn the better. Of course if you always go to the same area, it would be a good idea to learn the ones that you detect that people from that area use. Sometimes they are slightly different but with the same meaning.

Me creo que lo más interesante que he visto fue el Grand Cañón en Arisona. No he visto algo más maravilloso en mi vida. He estado en muchos paises, he visto Niagara Cascada, Nueva York y Mexico. Me encantan los podcasts Notes in Spanish y Notes from Spain. Hace cuatro años pasé un mes en una academia de idiomas en Sevilla. Sin embargo, aquí­ en Inglaterra no conozco a nadie que hable español. ¡ Por eso, me ayudan un montón !

Mis experiencias:

Este año he tenido la suerte de viajar mucho. Desafortunadamente, nunca he estado en Sudamérica, sin embargo , en enero y febrero hice un viaje como mochilero a través de América Central. Desde La Antigua Guatemala , buceando en Roatán (La mayor de Las Islas de la Bahí­a de Honduras) , La isla de Ometepe en el Lago de Nicaragua y por último Los Parques Nacionales en Costa Rica. ¡ Fue una experiencia que nunca olvidaré!

También, como Ben , he pilotado un helicóptero pero desafortunadamente, a diferencia del hermano de Marina, no puedo decir Soy Piloto de Helicóptero . Solo quince minutos con un Instructor de Helicóptero en un aeropuerto al sur de Londres.

La locura más grande que he hecho en mi vida. ¡Pues , no me parece una locura pero hay mucha gente que no está de acuerdo conmigo! Hace dieciocho años, cuando tení­a veinte años, aprendí­ a volar en una escuela de parapente y ala delta. Los fines de semana volaba mi parapente por encima de los acantilados de La Isla de Wight. ¡ Sin duda, una de las mejores experiencias en mi vida!
