‘Sal’ means salt, and is what is written on the salt pot they see, but ‘Sal’ is also the imperative of the verb ‘salir’ and means ‘Leave!’. So, they see the salt pot, see the order to leave, and can’t get in the kitchen

Quero a?adir sólo una idea sobre LEPE. Lepe en unas lenguas eslavas balcánicas significa “bellas”. Y por analogía “bellas y tontas”?! ?Quién sabe quién ha viajado por Lepe?

Okay, Lepe question here.
“¿Por qué los de lepe no entran a la cocina?
Porque hay un bote que pone sal.”
Does the last part translate as both:
1) because there’s a bowl they store salt in
and 2) the bowl makes them (feel like?) leaving?
