Spanish Audio Practice… do they really smoke that much?!

¡¡Madre mia!! ¿Tanto fuman los niños españoles? When I first saw the poster above, I was really worried about the Spanish kids of today! The video cleared things up, eventually… So, for ten points, who’s really doing the smoking?

I have to say, as much as I love Spain and Portugal….the second-hand smoke is a bit tough to deal with. When I first arrive, I’m able to write it off in my own head as very european: “it’s just the way things are here”. I think I’m simply so excited to be back that I’m willing suffer through it during the “honeymoon period”.
Once I’ve been there for a couple weeks, I actually begin to resent it. I think more and more about how much smoke my daughter is being exposed to. Not the point that I’d ever be crazy enough to ask someone to stop smoking, mind you. But I’ll eat at “home” (in-laws’ house) rather than hang out in a smoky restaurant/bar. I really begin to crave the smoke-free environments here in CT, where it isn’t allowed in bars even.

Cubix - 10 puntos, muy bien
Dave - it is a nightmare still in many of the small bars, hopefully soon they will extend the law in Spain and ban it in all public places. May take a while though!

They say second hand smoke is even worse then smoking the cigarrette itself because the smoker has a filter in the cig and the second hand folks take it in unfiltered.
